Dear Daymaker,
I have the unfortunate duty to inform you that after twelve
years of servicing the less fortunate, the Project
Daymaker Winnebago is no longer fit for travel which has
necessitated cancelling all events from July 17
forward. Major engine repair and operating issues have
taken the 34’ mobile salon unit off of the long-haul
road trips, and the 120,000 miles it traveled on the
road serving men, women and children primarily in Ohio,
Indiana and Michigan have sadly come to an end outside
of our immediate area.
Since 1995 our visits to your salon or agency have been very
gratifying and with your time and energy, we were able
to serve over 17,000 people in need! We have received
hundreds of thank you cards and letters over the years
from volunteers and agencies alike, resounding the
impact of a haircut and a smile on the human spirit.
Without the needed funds required to purchase a new vehicle
or to keep the aging Winnebago in repair and fit for the
many miles on the road we expected of it year after
year, we are unable to keep Project Daymaker safe and
functioning as a healthy non-profit organization.
On behalf of Kelly Collison, coordinator, Gary Whitney,
driver, and all of those who have devoted themselves
over the years to giving Project Daymaker life, I would
personally like to thank you for all of your support and
dedication to the mission of serving men, women and
children in need of a boost of self-esteem, and for
being “daymakers” when you could have spent your time
and talent in many other ways. We will contact you as
to how far the local service area will encompass Project
Daymaker’s future mission!
I wish you all love, peace and happiness, always.
Sincerely yours,

Frederic J. Holzberger
